A reading slump & July Wrap Up
Jumping out of the reading slump is a real something for all of us. For me, July was a coming back up from that slump kind of a month.
Now there might be various methods available for you all to do the trial & error method, here is what worked well for me:
First of all, stop pushing yourself to read through something, if you need a break - get one! No one else would give it to you.
Next up, try using reading prompts to keep the wheels moving when you feel blanked out such as:
- Read a book with less than 100 pages in your preferred Genre
A smaller book like this is more likely to be finished, leaving you with a feeling of accomplishment. I read "Marlon & the Scary something" - Read a book out of your comfort zone. Give yourself chance to experiment & see For me, it was "More after the Break" a Non-Fiction book in the Memoir category
- Read a Graphic Novel. I read a few great ones over time: "Persepolis", "Animal Farm" & "Sapiens: A Brief History of Human Kind".
- Re-read a book you enjoyed very much in the past. I read one of my fav. series's 1st book: Serpent & Dove. The experience will just remind you why you loved reading in the first place.
Once you are done with these, I hope you are back in the game like I have been in mine. And that my friends, is the wrap of my brief reads this July & how I came out of a reading slump. If you made it this far, tell me in the comments what has been your recent favourite read.
Until our next story, may your #coffee be strong and your #tbrs be long!
Signing off
